Milestones

People always say that time really starts to fly once you have children.  That is an understatement to say the least.  Our kiddos are growing up and learning so much and I want to attempt to keep track of their milestones and accomplishments.  I am going to try to write a post once a month on the new skills they have mastered so that I don't have to rely on memory alone to remember their accomplishments.
Sullivan is at this unbelievable age where you can actually witness him learn a new skill.  It is absolutely mind blowing.  You show him something or tell him something, he looks at you for a second, and then does it or says it for the very first time.  Just like that, he has learned something new.  Amazing.
He is just starting to say his first words and it is the sweetest thing.  It takes some coaxing but when he is willing the most precious little voice emerges and a look of pure pride and satisfaction sweeps over his face.  He can now say (in order of occurrence), uh-oh, go, turtle, Grandpa, no, Grandma, baby, Mama, Dada, hi, bye, doggy, please.  We also chose to teach him sign language from the very beginning, so from about eleven months on he could sign; finished, milk, more, please, thank you, bye-bye and he can give a high five and "knuckles". Ok, so those last two aren't real signs but they are pretty darn cute.
Sullivan has always seemed really advanced physically (I'm not biased I swear).  He walked at 9 months three weeks and he has always been really strong.  At this point he can throw a ball with either hand with pretty impressive accuracy, he can catch a ball if he uses both hands, he can drop kick a ball, he gallops, jumps and he really loves to dance.

Sela is now three months old and her personality is really starting to emerge.  She LOVES to smile and she has the same laugh that Sullivan did.  The one that is closer to a cough than a laugh but we know she is laughing.  She is amazing at tummy time and appears to be getting close to rolling over from her stomach to her back.  She is also really strong.  The Dr commented at her two month appointment how incredibly strong she was and that she had the head control and strength of a four month old.  Which of course made me one proud mama.  She is sleeping so much better at night.  She does one six hour stretch, then wakes up to nurse and sleeps for another few hours.

It has been so exciting to watch our little ones on their journey through their amazing little lives that are just beginning.  Every day presents something new, leaving us with great excitement and anticipation for what tomorrow will bring, all while savoring every moment while we are in it.
