Preschool

Sullivan starts preschool a week from Tuesday. We have his backpack and his school supplies, we are scheduled to meet his teacher and see his classroom on Thursday, and we talk about this big new adventure in his life everyday. His little chest puffs up and his voice fills with pride whenever anyone asks him if he's going to school. He tells them how big he is and that he is going to go to school like Miles because he grew and grew and now he is big. I think that is the hardest part for me. He is getting bigger and it is hard to fully accept. He showed me his hands and feet this morning and said, 'look Mommy, they got bigger in the night' and he's right. Every day he grows and it's these milestones that force us to truly stop and realize just how far we've come. I have been given some very good advice for his first day. Be strong, act as though everything is fun and great and he is exactly where he should be. Because he is. And I will do my very best to hold it all in until we get to the car. I am so very proud of the little person he has become. He is sweet and smart and social but also shy. He is head strong and a leader but can quietly play by himself. He loves his friends and I am excited for the new ones that he will make. I am not worried about him in the least; it's just that I am going to miss him. We have been together nearly every day for over three years and it's hard to let go. Even if it is just a few hours twice a week. While I am missing my boy however, I will also gain something that I literally have never had. One on one time with my baby girl. Oh Sela we are going to have some fun just you and me. I see some coffee dates, shopping, playdates and unknown adventures in our future. It will only be a few months until your little sister joins us and once again we won't be alone. We are going to make this a very special time. And such is life. As one chapter ends, so begins a new one and new adventures and firsts that you never knew you needed or wanted. We are ready.
